YOGA

Find Your Flow

Hatha is a type of yoga that can be considered an umbrella term for many of the most common forms of yoga practiced in the West. The word "hatha" can be translated in two ways: as "willful" or "forceful," indicating a yoga of activity, or as "sun" (ha) and "moon" (tha), signifying a yoga of balance. Hatha yoga involves moving your body slowly and deliberately into various poses that challenge your strength and flexibility, all while emphasizing relaxation and mindfulness.

Vinyasa yoga connects movement with breath to create a continuous flow. This style involves transitioning from one pose to another in a seamless sequence, using breath as the rhythm. Vinyasa is great for building strength, stamina, flexibility, and balance.

Yin Yoga is a slower-paced practice with roots in China. It is based on the Taoist theory of yin and yang—opposite concepts that represent balance. In Yin yoga, poses are held for longer periods, typically three to five minutes or more, targeting the connective tissues like ligaments rather than focusing on the muscles. This passive practice is designed to stretch the connective tissue around joints, such as the knees, sacrum, spine, and pelvis.

Yoga nidra, or yogic sleep, is a deep relaxation technique that takes the practitioner into a state of conscious sleep where the body is completely relaxed while the mind remains alert. In yoga nidra, a sequence of verbal instructions guides you through breathing, body awareness, and relaxation techniques.
